What is the cost of a murder mystery for a private event?

A.

The cost depends on the number of guests anticipated. And the number of guests anticipated determines if you can book the party format or production format.

  • 150+ Guests:         $4500 - Production Format
  • 100 - 150 Guests:  $3500 - Production Format
  • 65 - 99 Guests:      $2500 - Production Format
  • 33 - 64 Guests:      $1625 - Party | Team Building Format
  • 00 - 32 Guests:      $1250 - Party | Team Building Format

What is the Party | Team Building Format?

The Party | Team Building Format is a game and the storyline is customized around you, your guests and your event. Our most popular mysteries are "Who Killed the Boss," "Turning 50 Can Be Murder," and "Dining with Detectives."

What is the Production Format?

A.

The Production Format is a full team of actors to entertain. If you anticipate having nine or more tables (65 or more guests) I recommend the production format.

Where should we host the murder mystery party?

A.

You choose the place and I come to you. The private room of your favorite restaurant, a function hall or a ballroom works best. Any space large enough for your guests would work. I recommend the following locations in Maryland:

How does a mystery proceed? How long does it take?

A.

You should allow three hours for your event. Use this timeline as a guideline.

  • 06:00 Doors Open for Guest Arrivals, Mingling and Photos
  • 07:00 Salads Served, Guests Seated, Mystery Begins
  • 07:30 Entrées Served followed by Interrogations
  • 08:30 Desserts Served followed by Wrap-Up, Curtain Call and Awards
  • 09:00 End of Mystery

What is included?

A.

The customized murder mystery, the photography services (all photos can be downloaded by your guests for free), event coordination and everything needed for the entertainment (i.e. notebooks, pencils, props, costuming, awards, etc.). If you take care of the food, I'll handle everything else. You can just sit back, relax and try to solve whodunnit with your guests.

Will we incur other costs?

Yes, I kindly ask that you include me (for the party format) or my full team of actors (for the production format) in your meal and parking count.

Will you help promote our mystery?

A.

Why should we book with Whodunnit for Hire?

My goal, as owner of Whodunnit for Hire, is to offer the BEST murder mystery entertainment; the very BEST! To that end, I care about three things. First, I care about your guests. I care that your guests tell you it was amazing and that they had an incredible time. Second, I care about you. I care that you are able to relax and enjoy your own party because I've got it handled. Third, I care about my storyline. The puzzle of whodunnit is important to me. I will create a mystery which has a solution based on clues and reasoning, not a vote - definitely not a vote. When the killer is revealed, I want you and your guests to understand exactly why he or she "dunnit."

What if we found another murder mystery company that is cheaper?

A.

What is the Booking Policy?

A.

Your entertainment is confirmed once the invoice has been paid. For events over $2500 the payment may be broken in two, 50% due to confirm the date, 50% due one month in advance of the date.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

A.

Your payment is non-refundable. However, you may change the date of your event with thirty or more days notice and there is no penalty for a postponement due to inclement weather. If there is a change, the new date must be within the following ten months.

I’d like to organize a Fundraising Event. Do you do those? How much can my organization expect to make?

A.

Yes. I'd be delighted to put together a fundraiser for your organization and you can anticipate making between $2250 and $3750 if you sell the recommended 15 tables with ten guests per table (150 seats). Be sure your location has six-foot rounds.
